Your Home Away from Home

Academic Year Students: Resident Halls
  • Self-catered with shared kitchens and laundry rooms
  • Your room is furnished, although you will have to bring your own bedding, towels and cooking utensils/equipment.
Semester Students: Lodgings

Lodging is a single room in a private house with a resident landlord. Lodging is NOT the same as being placed with a host family, as you will live separately from the householder. Students may be placed in a home with a single working woman or family (with or without children), but never with a single male. All landlady's and adult residents at the lodgings must undergo a police background check. Kingston University's accommodations office will assist students with the housing process.You will have:
  • a furnished bedroom, including bed, desk, chair and storage;
  • access to the kitchen to prepare your meals;
  • access to the bathroom; and
  • bedding and cooking utensils/equipment.

Visas and Immigration

Visa requirements frequently change and you are ultimately responsible for correctly completing UK immigration requirements.  Please do not apply for a visa or purchase airplane tickets until you have received information and support documentation from the SUNY New Paltz Center for International Programs office.
  • US citizens:
    • not required if studying for a semester (less than 6 months) and you are not working, interning or volunteering
    • Required if studying for the academic year (more than 6 months) and/or working, interning or volunteering
  • Non US citizens: check with British consulate for visa requirements
